The final episode of the second season of Loki is an unexpected triumph:

I expected Loki to return to the anodyne, the generic and the, frankly, tedious, affair of being just another hero doing their thing and inexplicably resolving things to no one’s satisfaction. Instead what we get is something of a masterpiece of storytelling.
