Demon Records, out now

Enter Neverwhere, the netherworld of London, where mild-mannered Richard Mayhew discovers his adventures are only just beginning, and the Marquis de Carabas encounters an old enemy.

Dirk Maggs’ 2013 audio adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s 1996 novel, and subsequent short story How the Marquis Got His Coat Back, get the VIP treatment in this collection from Demon Records. The six-part full-cast adaptation of Neverwhere boasts a starry cast (James McAvoy, Natalie Dormer, Benedict Cumberbatch, Christopher Lee) and is presented across four black 140g discs, housed in two gatefold albums.

Each album sleeve is illustrated with new art, full credits and a note from Neil. Talking of Mr Gaiman, there’s print of the author hand-signed in glorious gold Sharpie rather than his favoured fountain pen. The final disc is housed in a single sleeve and covers How the Marquis Got his Coat Back.

Verdict: “This is not just a coat. It is beautiful. It is remarkable. It is unique.” I’d say the same about this set. 10/10
