Ghoulish horror comics curator The Creep introduces a variation on a classic and a twisted tale of retribution.

Night of the Paw is, as previewed in last week’s show, a new take on W W Jacobs’ classic 1902 short story about a possessed mummified relic which offers three wishes, but at a terrible price. Bruce Davison is Avery ‘Whitey’ Whitlock, a mortician who conveys his sad story to Angela (Hannah Barefoot), and we later discovered that he has summoned her to his funeral home to kill him. Do things go to plan? Writer John Esposito and regular Creepshow director John Harrison know that we’re one step ahead of the characters and add some neat additional twists.

Times is Tough in Musky Holler is a curious beast, written by John Skipp and Dori Miller and again directed by John Harrison. It begins with Lester M Barclay (Dane Rhodes) in jail, together with a bunch of locals who took advantage of his offer to help rid their town of the undead. Unfortunately they were profiteers, claiming top positions in the town at the expense of the current occupants. But now the town is seeking justice, as are the zombie victims. Some gruesome flesh-ripping and an unusual narrative structure add a new spin on this popular genre.

Verdict: Creepshow continues to impress with its wildly different stories, from a classic to a contemporary morality tale. Taking full advantage of the gore that the network allows, this is a full-blooded, high quality show that could easily be stitched into features. 8/10
