Charles and his family defend Chapelwaite with the help of Constable Dennison and Minister Burroughs. The night tests each character to their emotional limit.

The ending of Episode 7 of this Stephen King adaptation suggested that bad things were about to happen to the inhabitants of Chapelwaite, as vampire leader Jakub and his followers gathered outside the house. And while the nosferatu do enter the premises, it’s not before moments of reflection by the humans.

Can the handful of survivors really expect to make it through to the morning, preventing the undead from breaching the perimeter? Charles Boone suggests that the night will reveal much about themselves, though the communal prayer they share is unlikely to save them. Down in the cellar, George Dennison lets his vampire wife feed on him again, while Rebecca Morgan shares her plans to leave the town with her mother. The calm before the storm subsides when the vampires enter the house through the walls, and Tane is convinced by his deceased sister to do something that will save his family’s lives.

Verdict: And breathe! A tense hour that sadly concludes the only way it could. The Boone family might now be temporarily safe, but how will the vampires respond with their new-found power? Another chilling episode – there’s only two left to turn the tide on the misery. 8/10
