Missy’s up to her old tricks, but this time she’s not alone! How will the Doctor survive the latest maniacal plot in this special story celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Master?

This four-part adventure from Titan’s Doctor Who Comic regulars Jody Houser and Roberta Ingranata gets off to a cracking start, taking us to the Stormcage Containment Facility where Doctor Who – her words, not mine – asks to visit a prisoner, the Master during his Roger Delgado years. It is, of course, Missy, and she’s as bonkers as ever, dressed in her trademark Victorian governess garb, accessorised with two rubber ducks on her hat.

As she’s a future regeneration, the Master doesn’t recognise that he’s being duped, and Missy asks him to help her save a world that’s protecting a certain artefact – I won’t spoil which. True to form, the Master takes advantage of his rescuer, but she has a few tricks off her own up her brolly. It’s a fun romp, and we don’t miss the Doctor’s presence, albeit we get a handful of panels of Pertwee’s Doctor at the beginning.

Verdict: A novel way to celebrate the Master’s golden jubilee. It’s the only way we’ll get Gomez and Delgado in the same story, and this double trouble teaming could be a bigger challenge for the Doctor than the Gomez and Simm tag team. 8/10
