Titan Comics, out now

Los Angeles 2039 and a Replicant underground survives, led by the former combat model Freysa and her human partner ‘Ash’ Ashina, the first-ever female Blade Runner.

Titan begin their Blade Runner comic book spinoff series that covers the final decade bridging the two movies. The same writer and artist return from the successful 2019 and 2029 series, and we’re straight into the action as Luv, one of the new line of unquestioning Replicants gifted to LAPD, tracks down a fellow ‘skinjob’.

The LAPD HQ destroyed by terrorists in 2029 has now been redesigned and rededicated, with 71% of all reported replicants successfully eliminated since the introduction of the Expiration Act. Luv has best ‘retirement’ record, much to the chagrin of her human colleagues. Elsewhere, at new location Hermosa Beach, a young girl is offering eyes to a blind ferryman.

It’s a cracking read, and even at this early stage there’s enough going on to keep our interest as seeds are down for future plot development.

Verdict: Assured, authentic adventures in the Blade Runner universe. The returning creatives are all back with blasters blazing. 8/10
