Lytton and his allies encounter Mr Seaton

As Lytton reveals his true identity to his companions, we start to get a stronger feel as to exactly what it is he’s up to in this third instalment. There’s still a lot of running around for the characters – and doing their best to avoid Tube trains! – but we’re learning more as we go. We also get to spend some time with Wilson and Artemis – who has some interesting talents.

There’s some fun Easter eggs to be found in the art (I love the destination for the Tube train – evidently they got the station built after the events of Quatermass and the Pit), and Saward allows Renshaw to tell the story visually on a number of occasions, particularly during certain transits.

It feels like there’s still quite a bit to sort out in the concluding issue, making me wonder if we might be simply at the start of Lytton’s comicbook odyssey.

The comic comes with great VAM for both Saward and Lytton fans – there’s a new commentary for Earthshock from Saward, Matthew Waterhouse and David Banks as well as an archive panel from Philip Martin talking about Gangsters, as well as a print tribute to Maurice Colbourne in the comic itself.

Verdict: The pieces are falling into place neatly in this penultimate issue. 8/10
