A GHOST agent mistakes Twitch for a Decepticon and the family must keep the Terrans secret.

Superb character Marc Evan Jackson starts his guest run as Agent Schloder and it’s exactly as much fun as you think. His fantastically deadpan delivery is a neat addition to the show and he’s clearly having a whale of a time. Plus the fact Schloder mistakes Bumblebee for his alt mode leads to a great running gag involving Schloder being an untidy car user and Bumblebee having none of it. Jackson gets to deliver the line ‘Charles Dickens, this car has issues!’. It’s a good time. Plus there’s a fantastic cheesy public information field that we don’t see nearly enough of.

The core of the episode is surprisingly emotional. Robby is having real trouble adjusting to the ongoing stresses of their life and isn’t handling it well. That stress is the inciting incident, which in turn leads to the misunderstanding and the valuable lesson at the core of the episode. This is smart writing that does three things at once and all of them well. It also, crucially, provides a male lead who has to deal with emotional trauma and does so, in a manner that will help so many viewers.

The action is fun too including a neat callback to the danger room we saw Megatron training in earlier in the season. Sydney Mikayla is especially great and the kids really are well written and played. Oh and we get a cool set of cameos (Insecticons no less!) as Optimus shows Dot the Decepticon prison GHOST have beneath the town.

Verdict: Clever and kind and brave enough not to resolve cleanly, this is another really good episode of a show that keeps getting stronger. 9/10
