A serial killer with an obsession for single moms stalks a young mother who rejected him.

Vera Miao’s 2017 anthology series returns for a second season, with a longer run of eight stories. Each instalment is based on the social media challenge of writing a story in two sentences, which ultimately means that the final stories aren’t that heavy plot-wise, instead relying on atmosphere and shocks.

In this opening episode, Nicole Kang (Batwoman) is young single mum Hana, dating Jim Parrack’s (True Blood) Ken. She initially thinks he’s a great guy, but it’s not long before he’s showing controlling tendencies, and then we’re shown how he murders another date who doesn’t meet his high standards. Hana is walking in to a trap, and surely it won’t be long before she’s his next victim, but has he bitten off more than he can chew?

Verdict: These horror bites might be short in length and low on budget, but the acting and scares keep the tension real, and even if there’s realistically only one or two ways that the story is going to resolve itself, you might still be surprised at how things pan out. 8/10
