The Mandalorian takes The Child to the planet Corvus, where he hopes to meet one of the last Jedi.

Moving in to the second half of the season, The Mandalorian’s sophomore year offers its best episode yet, and you can hear the collective sigh of relief across fandom that the live action debut of The Clone Wars regular Ahsoka Tano doesn’t disappoint.

Played by Rosario Dawson (Daredevil), Anakin’s apprentice was created by Dave Filoni, who here takes on writing and directorial duties in an episode which not only gives us a lot of time with the fan favourite character, but finally reveals the true name of Baby Yoda – it’s [redacted]! Filoni is ably served by a supporting cast of The Magistrate (Diana Lee Inosanto) and Aliens legend Michael Biehn as soldier-for-hire Lang.

There’s a fantastic sequence when Ahsoka and Mando attack the village, the Jedi disappearing into the mist like a ninja, appearing from nowhere under the glow of her twin sabers. She looks perfect, performing her signature moves – Dave Filoni would hardly settle for anything less. And what a great additional tease; it looks like another Rebels favourite will making an appearance in the show.

Verdict: Fan-tactic! The Mandalorian continues to be the Star Wars show that we’ve always wanted. It’s a shame we’re over halfway through, but what a year it’s been so far. 9/10
