The Doctor and Romana discover a colony where privacy is illegal… #couldnthappenhere

I’m sure I won’t be the only reviewer who will be tempted to try to use the Twitter format to cover Jonathan Morris’ addition to the Destiny of the Doctor saga, given that it’s a sometimes less than subtle look at the way in which Twitter – or the Babblesphere, as it’s known in this story – can come to take over people’s lives. Morris provides a great recreation of the Graham Williams era of the show, with a tale that fits effortlessly alongside City of Death and Shada in its depiction of the Doctor’s mannerisms and the relationship between the two time travellers, as well as that nagging feeling you sometimes get that the Doctor and Romana could sort everything out really quickly, but are almost choosing to remain in peril to pass some time.

The overarching elements are becoming clearer – in fact so much so that I hope that Steve Lyons’ Fifth Doctor story doesn’t feature Matt Smith’s incarnation getting directly in touch with his predecessor to ask him to do something, as we’ve seen in the stories so far. Morris’ tale does put a potential spoke in the wheel of the 11th Doctor’s plans though…

Verdict: Filled with nice little touches, this is a fun story with just a hint of acid. 8/10
