These things can actually hurt you.

The green behind the ears of the new girl is shining like a traffic light in this instalment – ghosts lie? Who knew?

This second episode continues with a certain amount of exposition, and that’s to be expected. Susan and Luke, who we already learned have experienced the supernatural themselves, have a few missteps until they learn to communicate more openly and trust each other. After a pep-talk from a shockingly non-judgemental mother, Susan learns to charm her new colleagues… and it works. Life on TV is so much more neatly packaged, isn’t it? For the ‘shippers’ amongst us, there are a couple of front runners for Luke – anyone want to place a bet?

That’s the real and relatable, but the supernatural aspect is much darker this week, with a sinister and vindictive entity and we learn how dangerous the ethereal can actually be in this world. We are introduced to all the different types of haunting and all the weird and wonderful terms and acronyms the team use for them. I’m not following them all too easily at the moment but I’m sure that’ll come, as long as too much information isn’t dumped on us in the dialogue – show don’t tell, folks. I hope we get to see some more of the various things that can go bump in the night.

There are more genre Easter eggs and if this is to become a theme, I like it. It gives us all our own Captain America ‘I understood that reference’ moment. Crazy golf with Pennywise, anyone? Sounds delightful.

Verdict: The real and relatable mix with the dark side of the afterlife. 7/10
