A man dazzles a woman with his seemingly miraculous abilities, but their encounter takes a dark turn when the true source of his charisma is revealed.

A familiar trope is used to fuel this tale of a man pursuing a woman’s affections, but the whole thing is derailed by a creepy performance by its star. Marc (Topher Grace, Spider-Man 3) saves the life of Claudia (Kylie Bunbury) by pulling her from the path of a bus and then spends the rest of the day trying to impress her by sharing favourite authors and second guessing what she wants. The truth is that they’re stuck in a Groundhog Day-style time loop, and Marc (if that’s even his real name) is obsessed with Claudia and has become a stalker.

When he comes clean, he does so in such an awkward way, showing off and being such a weirdo that you can’t help cheering when Claudia punches him multiple times. His affections are not wanted, and he finally gets the point that he has to move on with his life. If this was his life lesson, how do we know he won’t be like this again when he meets another woman? Why can’t he act in such a way that we feel the slightest empathy towards him? He’s an obnoxious character and I feel little chance of redemption.

Verdict: The perfect date goes terribly wrong in a misjudged tale of an obsessive creep who needs to get over himself before he can move on with his life. 5/10
