Holly searches for clues at several locations connected to the Dayton case and Jeannie has an uninvited visitor.

With much of the previous episode spent with Holly in and around Ohio and New York, it was easy to forget that there’s still an evil presence back in Georgia, but that comes to the fore again as the locals start to be visited by the mysterious hooded man. Jeannie Andersen (a grief-stricken Mare Winningham) is warned that if her husband doesn’t stop his investigations that he’ll die, while Tamika Park (Hannibal’s Hetienne Park) dreams that the intruder will take her baby.

Holly is starting to make connections while investigating the Heath Hofstader house – she has a clearer understanding of how the tear-drinking creature leeches onto a whole family’s grief and then works out that its likely home is near associated graveyards. She sends Anderson out on a field trip to check out a theory, and lo and behold she’s right on the money. What’s sad is that Detective Hoskins is transforming into the Brady and is trying to warn people away, but we know it’s all too late.

Verdict: There’s a deliberate pace to the investigations and reveals in this show, steadfastly refusing to give you more than it feels necessary. While little new is discovered this week, the emphasis has shifted back to the human story and new tragedy that is about to be inflicted. 7/10
