Kovacs contends with ghosts from his past as he’s tortured by Carrera. Poe seeks help from a fellow AI.

Jumping straight in to the action, Carrera marches Kovacs in to the governor’s office, declaring him to be Axley’s killer. The manhunt is over but the prisoner refuses to take responsibility for his actions, which will lead to torture and a spell in The Circle, the significance of which we’ll later find out.

Anthony Mackie’s Kovacs is proving a hard nut to crack, even after he’s mentally attacked and then set upon by fighters who disguise themselves with memory stamps as significant people from his past. This is all played out as entertainment to the masses, a public execution along the lines of The Running Man or The Hunger Games, except that Kovacs has no intention of dying for good.

Verdict: Another solid, action-packed hour with plenty of violent combat to sate your bloodlust. It’s not particularly nuanced, but there’s enough big plot points and rug pulls to keep you engaged. 7/10
