After a vengeful enemy from the past appears without warning, Laszlo flees his home and goes into hiding to avoid certain death.

A lovely half hour showcasing Matt Berry’s Laszlo, who goes on the run when his former landlord finally catches up with him after 167 years and demands payment of his outstanding rent. But because this is What We Do in the Shadows, nothing goes to plan, and the person playing pursuer Jim the Vampire is none other than Star Wars legend Mark Hamill.

It’s hard to tell who’s having more fun here – Berry or Hamill. The latter hams it up something awful with his Eastern European accent and wild gesturing (and is perfect for this character) while Berry takes on a new persona as bar owner Jackie Daytona. He’s embraced by the locals in a small town in Pennsylvania (chosen because it sounds like Transylvania!) and while it seems like he’s lived a lifetime there, we later discover it was only a week.

Verdict: Beautifully played comedy, well aware that any one of its leads can singularly carry an episode with style. 9/10
