The battle is on to stop a killer.

We’re back to our main story as Jin-Sook turns to Kirby after a chilling encounter with Harper. She expresses her concern to Kirby that he intends to kill her, to be met with the response: “He already has… just not yet.” If that doesn’t blow your mind, I don’t know what will – but the female leads in this show are made of strong stuff. In the face of a very real threat to her person and her life imploding, once again, I’m not sure I’d be as stoic as Jin-Sook, but I’m choosing to view their strength as aspirational.

Elsewhere the truth sets Kirby a little freer than she’d like to be, but I think that’s exactly how the situation would pan out and it’s a touch of realism in this fantastical, twisted universe, and it’s oddly grounding and necessary. There are a couple of mental leaps of faith that Kirby takes, it’s a bit of a stretch – or possibly not explained well enough – for her to come to the conclusions she arrives at, even if they are right on the money.

Dan and Kirby are busy tracking down Klara, but that track leads 80 years into the past – and to a vital breakthrough. They’re not the only ones drawing near to their prey, however, and the closing scenes will knock you for six. Can Kirby stitch the frayed strands of time back together to stop Harper for good?

Verdict: Can the female of the species be more deadly than the male? 7/10
