Everyone works to their own agendas – with potentially catastrophic consequences…

Okay, I admit it, I got Jack Thompson wrong. After last episode’s apparent change of heart, it seems as if he wasn’t really quite as on side as he led everyone to believe – and he demonstrates his usual backstabbing and double-dealing ways with Peggy, Daniel, Vernon Masters and even Whitney Frost herself. The trouble is, there’s part of me that’s thinking that he’s actually doing – or trying to do – the right thing, getting rid of as many problems in one go as he possibly can…

But that’s probably not what people are going to remember this episode for. The song and dance number that opens it is pure self-indulgent fun – and kudos to all involved for throwing themselves into it completely. It reminded me of the start of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom – something so totally out of left field that you can only sit back and laugh… although unlike Willie Scott’s rendition of Anything Goes, this did progress the plot (to a small extent) and certainly provided some character moments.

Those weren’t in short supply through the episode: Peggy and Jarvis’ debate as they trudge towards civilisation showed both actors at their best, and exposed the problems at the heart of their working relationship. I hope that we get a chance to see them back as a team properly.

Verdict: Treachery, double-dealing, arcane forces and a forced heart to heart – just another day at the office for Peg! 8/10
