Los Angeles 2009 and LAPD detective Cal Moreaux has teamed up with an escaped experimental replicant who has been uploaded with the memories of a dead Tyrell Corporation scientist, whose suicide he was sent to investigate.
As we hit the second third of the story, Cal is tracking down replicants that have been to the market and returned with issues. He manages to contain a replicant before it is able to kill its host family, and it keeps asking ‘Why?’ before eventually shorting out, fatally. Cal faces off against Stahl, who is not happy impressed with the Blade Runner’s blunt methods, before going down town to meet an old friend at a club.
Verdict: For the first time in this series, it doesn’t feel like the story is gaining momentum, rather moving pieces around the board in readiness for something significant. 6/10
