More Galloways meet a horrific end as the contest continues, and The Gentleman is finally unmasked. The survivors take matters into their own hands to finish the competition and escape the island.

The gory whodunnit reaches its twisty and twisted conclusion without skimping on the viscera. Does it all add up, and is it satisfying? Let’s see.

Aphra walks hand in hand with the masked killer, and is then sawn in half in one of the most gruesome sequences this series. Entrails drop to the ground as the deranged young lady is taken off the board. It’s a stunning opening scene and leaves the four survivors suspicious of one another. It’s no longer paranoia – the killer is likely to be in the same room as them.

The quartet are invited to take part in the penultimate challenge – an escape room with sliding tiles. One of them completes the challenge and thinks that they’ve won the inheritance, and then has molten gold poured over their face. And then there were three. And in the closing moments of the penultimate episode the killer is revealed… I bet you didn’t see that coming.

The killer now in plain sight and we’re treated to a flashback to explain the rationale behind their killing spree and how they’ve covered their tracks. It’s unlikely that you’ll have worked out who it was, but you probably won’t feel cheated. Further flashbacks expose who was complicit in the scheme, but the most pressing matter is whether the murders will now stop… but that’s not how this show rolls. By the very end there’s only one person standing, and of the awful people who started the competition, they are probably the most deserving.

Verdict: Convoluted, gruesome and with more than a little tongue in its cheek, Slasher: Flesh and Blood has revelled in its invention and willingness to go further than taste would suggest. Great fun. 8/10
