Titan Comics, out now

Off-World 2026: Ash is found in the colony wreckage by Hythe, a new Blade Runner who holds an arrest warrant for her. But instead of taking her in, she reinstates Ash and restores her cybernetic back brace.

The third issue of the second movement of Titan’s spinoff of Ridley Scott’s 1982 sci-fi classic has been a long time coming – sadly real world events of 2020 proved more dystopian than the imagined reality of this imagined universe – but it takes us back on track to Ramanuja, nexus of a hundred trade routes. It looks like the downtown LA of the original movie and Ash is troubled by new partner Hythe’s ruthless interrogation techniques.

Cleo is still undercover as ‘Rabbit’, hanging around with Padraic until his Nexus eye is replaced, and this is and this is the chain of events that the Blade Runners are following. Flipping between two time frames a week apart, we follow the investigators in the same footsteps of the renegade replicants, culminating in a shootout reminiscent of Deckard’s termination of Zhora.

Verdict: After an unexpected delay, Blade Runner 2019’s grim alternative future continues to be engrossing escapism. 8/10
