Andy and Teddy have to go to hospital… Will everything go Looby-Loo?

There’s a change of pace in this third episode of James Goss’ 1950s Torchwood tale, with the first part of the instalment focusing on Andy Davidson’s troubles in hospital. It takes him – and us – quite some time to have an idea what’s going on (and anyone who’s had a hospital stay with a sadistic ‘this is going to hurt me more than you’ attitude will recognise some of the characters). We get a brief visit from Joe Shire’s Gideon, but he continues to be something of an enigma.

Andy may have been warned by everyone to be careful of Norton, but the grisly situation he finds himself in means he needs Folgate’s help – even if it spoils the latter’s swinging time. Things ratchet up a notch after that as the pair prepare for a journey, and Norton finally explains what’s going on. But where has Lizbeth vanished to…?

Verdict: The secrets of Ashenden are starting to be revealed. 8/10
