Demon Records

A limited edition vinyl collection of Tom Baker audio recordings.

If you’re a Doctor Who fan of a certain age, it’s highly likely that you’ll already have bought most of the content of this four-disc boxset before – as original vinyl or cassette or subsequent digital re-issue – but when the product is this impressive, a double (triple?) dip is warranted.

Only 600 copies have been produced of this handsome set, and as with the Hornets’ Nest trio of releases, contains an exclusive signed Tom Baker print photograph. Some authentically retro packaging houses the four 140g discs, moulded in orange, green, blue and red – it’s like we’re back in the 70s!

The stories are 1979’s Genesis of the Daleks, 1976’s made-for-vinyl Doctor Who and the Pescatons, 1976’s Exploration Earth: The Time Machine and 1982’s audiobook reading of A State of Decay. The Exploration Earth disc is supplemented with radio interviews with Tom from the 70s and 80s.

Verdict: If you can get it, this is an essential purchase – for my money it’s Demon’s best Doctor Who set yet. 10/10
