The Boulder Free Zone Committee looks to solidify their leadership and bolster the community with a town hall meeting, but Flagg continues to make inroads as he plots to destroy the newly-forming society from within.

I stand corrected. Last week I suggested that we’d met all the main cast of the show, forgetting that we still hadn’t been introduced to Dayna (Natalie Martinez), first spotted this week beating a people trafficker to death with a lead pipe. Together with Judge Harris (Gabrielle Rose) and Tom Cullen she is part of an undercover incursion into Flagg’s Las Vegas lair. It’s a dangerous plan, but unknown to the occupants of the Free Zone there’s a greater threat within; Flagg has asked his ‘bride’ Nadine to enlist embittered Harold into killing leader Stu.

The timeline flits from present day to two months before, focusing on Stu and Glen coming to the aid of Frannie, Harold and Dayna, and a significant moment where Nick and Tom meet self-absorbed and unstable Julie Lawry (Katherine McNamara, Arrow). A terrifying and unsympathetic character who mocks Tom and Nick, she has ‘Friend of Flagg’ written all over her. Back in Boulder, Nadine and Harold steal dynamite as part of their Stu removal plan but friend Teddy stumbles upon their subterfuge and complicates matters to his detriment.

It’s pleasing to see author Stephen King’s son Owen King getting a shared teleplay credit again this week (he’s also a producer on the show) and you’ll certainly beam when you spot a cameo from the Maine man himself as a pensioner on the poster for the Hemingford Home care facility where Mother Abigail is found.

Verdict: As each side (good and evil) tries to gain an advantage over the other, the new world prepares for a new battle. Oh, and following up Teddy’s question, do you think that The Rock survived the plague? It feels like he’s a survivor. 8/10
