Aziraphale picks up a hitchhiker and Nazi zombies terrorise London.

By far my favourite episode so far this season, this instalment benefits from a script that veers from hilarious to horrific and boasts some welcome guest stars.

Aziraphale is returning from Edinburgh when he picks up a young hitchhiker who reveals her identity to be Shax (Miranda Richardson). She wants him to confirm that Crowley has been doing good things (which would get him cast out of Hell), but Aziraphale isn’t playing. She then tempts a colleague in Hell (Reece Shearsmith in an astonishing wig) to help her, and he in turns convinces some recently deceased Nazis to catch Crowley in an act of kindness.

The Nazis return to the living realm in 1941 in the form of zombies (this minisode is called Nazi Zombie Flesheaters), with two of the trio of decomposing fiends played by Mark Gatiss and Steve Pemberton. It all comes to a head during a magic act where they block Aziraphale’s magic powers.

Verdict: Some ghoulish humour and a reunion of The League of Gentlemen – top entertainment. 9/10
