Lazarus Prime, Lady Eve’s old right hand man, resurrects Lala in order to get revenge on Tobias. He instantly takes Jefferson hostage instead. Meanwhile, Anissa continues tracking down Grace and Henderson discovers Tobias’ latest victim.

There’s a lot going on here and it’s all good. First off, it’s a real pleasure to have Lala back and his scenes with Jefferson are rife with tension. Freeland is a city built on the bones of the fallen and the way Jefferson helps Lala discover what he truly wants is frightening, inspiring and sets up big things for the future.

Elsewhere the episode is lighter than the show has been in several weeks and all the better for it. The plot with Jennifer and Gambi and the new costume is really sweet and gives the show the familial edge it’s sometimes lacked this year. Better still it ties directly into the growing motif of the Pierces working in three different directions: Jennifer looking for vengeance, Anissa looking for Grace, and Jefferson and Lynn looking for someone, anyone to save. We get movement there too, and Lynn’s scenes with Agent Odell give the episode a welcome dark edge.

Verdict: This is a strong episode that centres the family and is stronger for it. Fast paced, fun and action heavy. 8/10
