Alice follows Zoe through the mysterious doorway and into the Peaches’ domain while Luke and Louise perform some surgery.

The connections to Lewis Carroll’s Alice stories is worn on this show’s sleeve, taught from the episode title, to the appearance of rabbits, to a gardener talking in riddles. The Woods girls are both in deep peril now – admittedly they have been since they first misguidedly arrived in town wanting to make a new start – and it’s at this point, 2/3 of the way through, you for signs of hope. But there aren’t any.

Deputy Luke and landlady Louise track down the body of the mysterious suited man and perform a decapitation with some industrial power loppers, and yes, you can fit a head in a bowling bag. Elsewhere in Peachland there’s a gangly child creature with bobble head hunting down Alice, Zoe is served kidney parfait with ear wafer and Rutger Hauer’s Papa Peach holds all the cards.

Verdict: Less shocking than the previous instalment, we’re a long way down the rabbit hole now, with no sign of any light at the end. It’s time to fight back against the Peaches, but who can possibly help? I can’t wait to find out. 7/10
