Apple TV or iTunes

Ahead of the release of his final James Bond film at the end of the month, a look back at Daniel Craig’s tenure as 007.

Here’s a fun, free way to spend 46 minutes in the company of Daniel Craig and Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson, sharing anecdotes about the actor’s time in five Bond films.

If you don’t have Apple TV, you can still watch the programme via iTunes, where you just need to ‘rent’ the movie (for free) for 48 hours. We never get to see Craig or his producers, theirs are voices like a commentary on a Blu-ray, talking over clips from the movies and various news footage. We go from his casting, the complaints that he was too blond and bland, to paparazzi in the trees, walking out of the sea in Speedos, up to his final day on set.

All three commentators are honest about the movies – that Quantum of Solace suffered from the Writers’ Strike and that Craig did too many of his own stunts, leading to production delays for injury recovery time – but there’s also a huge pride in what they have achieved. Little is given away about No Time to Die, but as a retrospective, it’s a classy teatime watch.

Verdict: Arguably there’s little new here for the uber Bond fan (I’m looking at our website editor!) but it’s great to hear a jovial Craig showing a gentler side, and there’s some fun asides along the way. 7/10
