An old pack mate of Dyson’s comes to town – but can he be trusted?

Lost Girl takes a sudden swing into Highlander territory with this episode, with large swathes of flashbacks allowing the actors to display some… interesting accents, shall we say. The scenes are useful for understanding the relationship between Dyson and Cayden – for once the show acting on the “show don’t tell” mantra – but also fill out a slight story that needs something a bit more.

The subplot with Lauren taking refuge from the Ash has more promise than Dyson reuniting with his old love: Lauren and Bo’s relationship has more potential than between werewolf and succubus and it does seem as if Bo needs to remind herself that there are others around.

It’s good to see the show’s reworking of myths into a more palatable form is back – the Mongolian Death Worm is definitely not the way such a beast would have been portrayed on Buffy (although I can see Joss Whedon going for the idea of a monster that is controlled by access to its favourite game shows!)

This promises a bit more than recent episodes.
