Mariner, Boimler and Tendi clash with their arch-rivals: Delta Shift. The Cerritos engineers go on mandatory relaxation leave.

The engineering team on the Cerritos are starting to suffer from stress after being in close quarters for too long and dealing with one problem after another. The answer is a visit to a health spa, but things never go to plan. Starting with a reference to Next Generation episode Masks, this is a frothy, fun, half hour, while never being in danger of offering up something new.

The other plot line is the ensigns trying to rig a lottery so that they can beat their rivals, Delta Shift, and gain access to Deck 1 quarters. It’s a shame that this ensign rivalry is playing out again – it was used in the previous episode – but there’s some fun vignettes as Mariner, Boimler and Tendi crash a Holodeck programme, trip out on hallucinogens and explore hitherto unseen parts of the ship.

Verdict: A lightweight, mid-season filler that doesn’t outstay its welcome, but there’s not a lot going on here. 7/10
