How will the Dalek Emperor react to the arrival of a Mechanical Planet that threatens Skaro itself?

Presented as a free gift with each issue of Vworp Vworp! number 3, this short CD features a dramatization by Alan Stevens of one of the fantastic Daleks strips that appeared in TV-21. David Graham returns to voice the Emperor Dalek over fifty years after he last played a denizen of Skaro, with Blake’s 7 assassin (and no, sorry, I don’t think you ever will be forgiven for that!) Sasha Mitchell as Ezra Valdis, a character Stevens created from two that appeared in the strip. Graham also plays the intriguing anagrammatically Sorvad, the leader of Earth…

It’s very much designed for those who have sufficient interest in Doctor Who to buy a fanzine like Vworp Vworp, throwing us into the middle of the action… And what action there is, courtesy of Alistair Lock having far too much fun destroying Daleks. Graham sounds like a man half his age, while Mitchell picks up the nuances in Stevens’ script.

Once things seem to come to an end, there are two “interrogations” – Mitchell by a very polite Dalek, and Graham by a Mechanoid, with both covering other SF elements of their careers (listen out for Graham’s impersonation of a certain Time Lord). Don’t skip this though, because, in the best Marvel post-credits tradition, there’s more to come.

Verdict: It’s a fun addition to the Dalek Chronicles – but wouldn’t it be great if a series based on them could be made? 8/10
