Ben is forced to join forces with Eagan as an increasingly urgent calling seems to indicate the 828ers are in grave danger. Olive and Angelina’s relationship becomes ever more strained. Zeke and Michaela’s dinner party with Jared and Sara does not go according to plan.

It’s all getting very biblical/mythological up in Manifest. Visions of flooding waters, torrential rain and a lion are tormenting Ben and Eagan, the latter turning up unannounced at the Stone household to insist that Ben do something given the urgency of the Calling. When Michaela suffers a disturbing vision of her own, Olive is dispatched to the university to see Levi and ask for his help with anything similar from the historical record.

Speaking of Olive, she and Angelina finally come to confrontation when Angelina goes one step further in her Olive Appreciation Act and dyes her hair. I’m actually a little surprised by how quickly the writers are flipping this one – though Angelina was certainly getting a little creepy, it’s not all that long ago she was locked up in her parents’ basement and Olive was the one persuading her to stay with the Stones as ‘part of the family’. Then again, I’m fairly certain Olive was supposedly in love with TJ but Levi is certainly getting all the eyes made at him at the moment…

At Eureka, Saanvi tries one last desperate test on the piece of the Ark, which the Vatican want back and which nobody has made any progress on yet, and has a result which is shocking and potentially deadly.  As time goes on, it becomes clear that Saanvi’s experience is tied in with the overall direction of the visions, and Michaela rushes to her side.

This means of course that Zeke is left to contend with the dinner party with Jared and Sara on his own. Here too the show is making interesting choices. One might expect the daughter of Kathryn Fitz to be somewhat similar to her mother but all indications are exactly the opposite here. Zeke’s ‘good feeling’ radar seems to be making all the right pings off both Sara and Jared, and maybe that whole relationship drama which has plagued Michaela, Zeke and Jared since the show’s inception is finally over.

As the episode reaches its climax, a massive revelation indicates that the secrets of 828 may be closer to being unlocked than ever – though whether that’s a good or bad thing remains to be seen, especially when Ben is offered a different perspective on one of his new certainties.

Verdict: Gets a lot done and lays a lot of foundation for moving forward. 8/10
