Eureka Entertainment, out now

A health supplement company run by a ruthless businesswoman is abducting young women as part of an experiment to engineer an age-reversing treatment.

Maybe it’s wise that Jens Dahl’s horror thriller is released the day after Valentine’s Day, as it’s not really the romantic gift you’d appreciate on the 14th. You’ll need a strong constitution to survive this terrifying tale as Mia (Sara Hjort Ditlevsen) investigates why her husband has taken the terrified victim of an attack to his work rather than a hospital.

Mia’s husband is working for Ruben (a steely Signe Egholm Olsen) in a rundown factory with a big secret. Hidden from the wealthy businessmen desperate to turn back the clock is a network of terrified, humiliated women, being gynecologically tortured to produce the magical elixir. More upsetting for Mia, her husband can do nothing about this, a significant skeleton in his closet preventing him from going to the authorities.

It’s a troubling 107 minutes – you watch the degradation and misery praying that there will be suitable retribution for what the victims have endured. I won’t give anything away, suffice to say it concludes in a grubby, shocking manner.

Verdict: Well made scares and a premise that veers dangerously close to torture porn. If you can handle the material, it’s worth the journey, but beware the tricky subject matter. 8/10
