While Merlin (Joseph Fiennes) is off on a visit to the library, Arthur (Jamie Campbell-Bower) takes the opportunity to accompany Guinevere (Tamsin Egerton) to visit her dying father. Meanwhile, Morgan (Eva Green) sits in judgement on Sybil (Sinead Cusack).

Camelot stumbles a little with this rather pointless episode. Merlin’s struggle with his use of magic as an addiction is rather interesting, as is his discussion of faith with Leontes (Philip Winchester). The wizard’s emphasis on knowledge in books being as valuable as arms is also worth noting. However, it is a meandering plot line in a meandering episode.

While this is going on, Arthur takes advantage of Leontes’ absence to ride off with Guinevere to see her dying father. Picnics and swims in the sea follow, but there is little of substance here. Similarly disappointing is Morgan’s storyline, in which she repeats Arthur’s actions of the previous episode in holding a trial. Yawn.

The episode is light on any outrageous acting from Green or Fiennes, the only reason for watching, so don’t worry if you miss this instalment.

Verdict: A rather dull and pointless visit to Camelot.
