Oliver’s fantasy is to surprise his boyfriend, Emilio, with the perfect proposal, but when Emilio says no, Oliver finds himself reliving that day over and over again…

Groundhog Day, Fantasy Island edition this week as we have a classic time-loop and the island magic gets a two-for-one deal with the guests and Elena herself.

Exactly why Elena is experiencing the loop too (and Ruby isn’t) I’m not sure, but I suppose I should go with it, grumbling under my breath. There’s been an underlying tension between Elena and Javier, but fortunately there’s a counsellor on the island this week who can help them get to the bottom of things… then our hostess with the mostest chooses the nuclear option, which I wasn’t at all expecting, but it’s not a nice twist.

There is some sweet positive representation in the episode and the resolution of their fantasy is satisfying in comparison with their expectations. Plus there’s a reminder why self-care is important and the need to make sure we replenish our reserves so that we can help others… a message it’s always good to be reminded of from time to time.

Verdict: Trouble in literal paradise? 7/10
