SHIELD 2.6The UN is attacked – by SHIELD?

The final story in this six-week run of SHIELD ends with a number of changes to the status quo, not least relating to Grant Ward. It’s becoming clear that there’s absolutely nothing that he’s said up to now that can be taken at face value – the scenes between Coulson and Ward’s brother Christian make that very clear.

The team is settling down properly now, with the addition of Bobbi Morse. The repartee between her and Hunter works well, adding a very comic book element to the series with quips during the fighting and aftermath. Hopefully he will decide to stick around despite her presence.

It’s also good to see Glen Talbot showing that he can change his opinion based on the evidence around him, and a quarter or so of the way through the season, SHIELD is finally starting to gain the allies that it’s going to need if it is to keep HYDRA under control.

The Fitz and Simmons scenes were uncomfortable, as they were meant to be, and Simmons’ conversation with Mack at the end confirmed that the two scientists have got to develop a very different relationship – or spend their entire time apart, not something that would seem to be easily achievable in the current circumstances.

Verdict: With decent fight scenes, and movement forward on most of the ongoing storylines, this was a solidly entertaining hour. 8/10
