The campers have escaped the island – but so have others…

The latest series of the Jurassic World spin-off picks up both in terms of the plot and emotionally from the end of series 3, with our heroes on a yacht that’s got a few issues, but seems to be able to get them to Costa Rica. There are some problems still around as a result of the choices made in the previous series finale – notably between Kenji, Darius and Brooklynn – and there’s a few hints that the relationships may be developing in new directions.

There’s the odd moment where the editing doesn’t seem to quite hold together, but those are more than made up for by a couple of jump scares, and a very effective use of the Mosasaurus that we saw escaping from the island at the start of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. The show’s going to have to be careful not to start repeating a load of familiar beats just with the youngsters on a different location, but it certainly gets off to a decent start.

Verdict: Welcome back to Jurassic World! 7/10
