Learn all about the various LEGO Star Wars characters.

Aimed at school age children, this simple but effective guide to the LEGO Star Wars universe is a good blend of basic text and well-designed illustrations, going through the seven main films in story order. There are a lot of full and half page fold outs that are used well – the spread on the Jedi Masters doesn’t include Anakin… but open the flap, and there is the future Darth Vader in all his bricky Padawan glory.

After introductions to the Jedi, the Sith, amazing aliens and dangerous droids a spread on Tatooine leads into a proper introduction to Anakin setting the template for the whole book – it’s not trying to retell the stories of the saga, but reminding the young reader who and what everything is. Each is accompanied by a picture of their LEGO counterpart, with many variants depicted – some of the different versions of Anakin are shown, although there’s only one Han Solo, and that’s the older one from The Force Awakens.

Verdict: With a “gigantic” poster of the Millennium Falcon as an added bonus, this will be a good present for young LEGO Star Wars fans. 8/10
