The teenagers do all they can to prevent Tiff and Mitch from killing the dinosaurs – even at the cost of their own rescue.

And so we come to the end of this second season, with the kids pretty much as we left them at the end of the first, at least in terms of a quick rescue – but they’ve grown quite a bit across the eight episodes (not least Ben and his sidekick Bumpy). They still have a certain amount of annoying habits – not least Darius’ utter conviction that everything is down to him to solve – but they are much more united, and their determination to go pro-active should lead to some interesting adventures next year.

The wrapping up of this season’s plotlines is effective – the dinosaur stampede is well-realised, and we don’t need to see the exact way in which Tiff and Mitch die to know that it wasn’t an easy or a pleasant death. There’s plenty of throwbacks to the franchise’s best visual tricks (particularly the use of the dinos just at the corner of the frame) to make this feel very much like part of the series that began nearly 30 years ago.

Verdict: A good finale to another enjoyable addition to the canon. 8/10
