In danger, Tiago and Lewis must make bold decisions. With Townsend at the end of his rope, he’s forced to turn to a last resort. Spurred by Elsa, Peter decides to take Tom, Trevor and Frank to the movies.

I stand corrected. At the end of the previous episode I commented that there was a lot to pack in to the final two episodes of this launch season. Episode 9 has, however, played out like a regular episode, with literally everything now depending on the final hour to wrap things up. It’s a bold move, as there’s a lot of threads dangling, suggesting that either it will be rushed, or plenty will be left to set up a second season.

Two key events define the episode – the coming together of the Vega family at the Crimson Cat club and Diego’s transfer to prison. The former sees the Vega clan publicly locking horns and revealing what they feel about their respective alliances with Molly and Magda. It’s a final moment where family can still pull together before being lost forever – but is it too late? Lewis (the excellent Nathan Lane) joins Diego on his prison transfer, but what are the chances that the young offender will make it to jail in one piece? Corruption rules in this hate-filled LA and Lewis is reminded that his battles are on multiple fronts.

Verdict: A solid enough episode but frustratingly feels like it’s dragging its heels when it should be flying by now. 7/10
