Carrera sends his secret weapon on a deadly mission while Kovacs and Trepp smuggle Quell out of the city.

After the shock of seeing the original Kovacs appearing at the end of the last episode, the big question seems to be ‘how?’ The way that the tech works in this show is the consciousness stack being transferred between bodies, but what if the body was gone? We discover that this is a clone of Kovacs Prime – pretty much everything can be copied now.

Quell is back at the Nevermore Hotel after her rampage, but she doesn’t understand what is fuelling this fury. This time she has taken out most of the planet’s Founders, but what is her connection to them? And Carrera and his crew are hot on her tail.

Poe gets more to do this week than usual, visiting a colourful VR land and meeting his much missed Miss Elizabeth. He’s glitching and in need of a major reboot but can still recognise when someone’s trying to dupe him. But graver things are happening outside as Governor Harlan gets her cabinet to agree to martial law before placing them under house arrest.

Verdict: While not hard work to watch, it doesn’t feel like the story has progressed that much in this hour of treading water. We’re over the halfway mark and beyond being one big game of cat and mouse it’s hard to see this season as being anything special. 6/10
