Can – or indeed, should – the Nekross be saved?

The answer to the first question is obvious – of course they can, or we’d have a very different show starting next week (although from the look of the throw forward, maybe that’s the case anyway). The debates over the second lead to an interesting opening section of this episode, as some people are more adamant than you might expect.

This story gives a bit more attention to Benny, without the distraction of his parents. His guilt over what he’s done drives the story, and everyone else’s actions are predicated on his – Tom has to make tough decisions to help what Benny feels he has to do; the adults have a consequent problem from that.

The Nekross reaction to their impending doom throws open some avenues for the next series, particularly in terms of the way they talk to Benny and Tom at various points through the episode. Hopefully there will be some consequences from this story.

Verdict: The dilemma is solved in ways that you expect, but throws light on some of the characters in ways you may not anticipate. 7/10
