Charles is overwhelmed with grief and anger after his family is dealt a devastating blow. Stephen and Uncle Phillip come to Charles with a surprising proposition.

In the words of Stephen King, sometimes they come back, and I can’t have been the first person to express a concern when the body of Loa was found by Charles at the end of episode 5. This week, we deal with the heartbreaking moment of Charles bringing his daughter home, trying to console his other children and then committing her body to the ocean. But the tell-tale puncture marks on her neck are all that we need to know that this won’t be the end of her journey.

It’s a time for reflection for the townsfolk of Preacher’s Corner, admitting that they have turned a blind eye to what was happening at the Boone property. Evil has entered their neighbourhood, but now is the time for action rather than penance or apologies. No one feels more guilty than Rebecca, who has used the Boones’ story for professional gain – Charles is particularly cutting when dismissing her, though he does at least let her wait until the morning rather than face the creatures of the night. And then, tragically, Loa returns. Freed from her brace, she is no longer in pain, but she is nosferatu.

Verdict: Like a Penny Dreadful, each week Chapelwaite delivers us a chapter of misery and dread… and I’m loving it. There appears to be little light at the end of the tunnel, but surely Charles is ready to take the lead after so much tragedy in his life. 8/10
