The documentary series chronicling rare and fascinating details of Star Trek takes a look at the franchise as a whole, singling out themes of note.

The kindest way to describe this concluding episode of the documentary series about Star Trek is that it’s a mixed bag of bits that didn’t fit into other episodes.

Stars from across all iterations up to Enterprise talk about everything from casting to makeup to actors directing to technobabble. It’s the most standalone episode of the series, requiring the least knowledge of Star Trek, and featuring the biggest stars.

Leonard Nimoy, Nichelle Nichols, Kirstie Alley, Sarah Silverman, Gates McFadden, John Billingsley, Michael Dorn, Will Wheaton, Whoopi Goldberg, F Murray Abraham and many more share their experiences. Jeri Ryan expresses her gratitude for what Voyager did for her career, and yet can’t look back on the experience because of the rivalry on set. In contrast, Robert Beltran remembers the opportunities he had with groupies.

It’s a fun wrapping up of a series that offered a lot more honesty than initially expected. But considering that it stops with the end of Enterprise (no Kelvinverse movies, Discovery, Picard, Lower Decks or Prodigy) you can hardly call it 55 Years of Star Trek.

Verdict: A collection of anecdotes from star talking heads. Even a diehard Trekker like me has found plenty to enjoy. 7/10
