Divide and fail to conquer.

It’s not so much answers we get on La Brea this week, but further questions. Our intrepid time-fallers stumble upon a settlement, adorned with the symbolic hand print that Eve first found.

They split up, each on their own mini mission, as though this is a computer game and there are side-quests you have to complete before going to the next level. Why do the people speak English? Why isn’t it better defended? If they’re in La Brea thousands of years ago, how come the people who fell through the sink-hole in Africa are there? Why is there a dead man who looks very un-prehistoric? Why are mobile phones still working after 5 days without charging? Why am I slowly beginning to care a bit less?

Gavin and Izzy’s maverick mission ‘top side’ heats up when they learn that there is an even better plane than the one Levi had, with an architect who miraculously knows exactly why Levi’s plane crashed and that hers won’t. I’m loving the confidence but it seems like too much of a leap of faith – until we learn the true motive behind her work. Maybe lead with that, folks?

Verdict: The story inches forward like a prehistoric ground sloth. 6/10
