The documentary series chronicling rare and fascinating details of Star Trek takes a look at movies The Voyage Home, The Final Frontier and The Undiscovered Country.

The ups and downs of the production of Star Trek movies IV-VI has been covered in detail in various books and documentaries, and in truth, there’s not a lot new shared here unless you’re fresh to this corner of the universe. But it’s still refreshing to hear anecdotes directly from the horses’ mouths by those who made them.

Less gossipy than the later episodes in the series, there’s still some fascinating facts like the Humpback Whales in The Voyage Home might have been Snail Darter fish and at one point it was intended to include Eddie Murphy as an English professor. There’s plenty of tales of calamity to share about Shatner’s The Final Frontier, and I wasn’t aware that The Undiscovered Country was at one point cancelled before being reinstated under a new management regime at Paramount.

Verdict: Lively and informative, what you take away from this one will really depend on what pre-existing knowledge you bring with you. 7/10
