Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, out now

Sara’s ill-advised fling with ex-boyfriend Skyler leads to an unplanned, accelerated pregnancy, and that’s just the start of her problems.

There’s something so good-natured about this crazy comedy horror that you just have to roll with its outrageous plot developments and B-movie aspirations. As much a teen comedy as a gloopy horror film, the strong female leads are all having a ball, and amongst the nonsense there’s a serious message or two about teen pregnancy and xenophobia.

Of course it’s all disposable fodder, but at no point does it pretend to be high art, and if you’re in the right mood it ticks the genre boxes. Buffy, Gremlins, Mean Girls, Aliens, She’s Having a Baby – this is a magpie of a movie that plunders from any source to hand. The disc includes a behind the scenes look, some bloopers and a commentary by the creatives.

Verdict: Trashy and it knows it, this movie knows exactly what it aspires towards, and just about gets away with it. With realistic expectations you’ll get your money’s worth. 6/10
