Captain Burnham and Book journey into extradimensional space in search of the next clue to the location of the Progenitors’ power.

Having chased Moll and L’ak across space for nearly half a season, we finally get to see their back story and discover the motivation for their actions. It’s a welcome filling in of their background, though arguably at this stage in the final season of a show that already has a large number of characters, it may be too little too late .

It’s fun to watch the spiky Rayner navigate his first mission in command of the Discovery, and good to see Adira getting the opportunity to prove their worth after the time bug drama. The appearance of a legacy vessel adds to the overall enjoyment of an episode that thrives in getting smart people to do clever things to save the day.

Verdict: Mid quality Trek. There’s nothing wrong here, but nothing memorable either. 7/10
