Kockroach just finished filming in Australia and Deadline have the first still from it. And, suggests Alasdair Stuart, buckle up.
The movie is set in New York and based on a William Lashner novel about a mysterious stranger who goes to war with the underworld of New York and becomes an enormously powerful crime boss. Rachell Sennott, Zazie Beetz, Alec Baldwin, Brian Geraghty and Taron Egerton star with Chris Hemsworth in the lead role. It’s directed by Matt Ross who is both an excellent character actor and a fun director with previous work on the underrated Captain Fantastic and Death by Lightning.
And it’s based on Franz Kafka’s The Metamorphosis.
For those that don’t know, this is Kafka’s infamous novel about Gregor Samsa, a man who wakes up one morning to discover he’s become a giant cockroach and slowly watches his life collapse around him.
And you know what, I’m really excited about this one. It’s a great cast and crew and the idea of flipping Kafka’s original upside down so it becomes about Gregor’s rise and presumed moral and physical collapse has a lot of potential. And yes, from what has been released, Chris Hemsworth is going to turn into a giant cockroach.
What the hell, it sounds a blast and we look forward to it releasing.
