A special Star Wars auction, held on May the 4th at East Bristol Auctions, raised more than £400,000 with portions of the proceeds going to Alzheimer’s Research UK.

The memorabilia from original Darth Vader, Dave Prowse’s collection included his rehearsal script from The Empire Strikes Back which raised £23,000. A Star Wars cast list sold for £10,000 and a replica lightsaber also went for £10,000. A rare Australian poster for the original trilogy reached £520.

Auctioneer Andrew Stowe told the BBC: “The love for Star Wars is still as strong as it was back in 1977 – and today’s auction was proof of that.

“The fact that Mr Prowse was born just a few miles away from our saleroom is what made this such a special event. It really felt like his collection ‘came home’.”
